Am I Fit Enough?

Is It Intimidating?

You don't need to be fit to start our classes, you'll get fit by starting our classes.

A lot of people picture a fight gym as being full of professional fighters and intimidating athletes. The reality couldn't be more different.

Our members are everyday people. They're mums and dads, tradies, teachers, nurses, business owners, students and office workers. Some come to get fit, some to relieve stress, some to build confidence, and others simply because they enjoy the challenge.

Everyone remembers what it felt like to walk through the doors for the very first time, which is why our members go out of their way to make new people feel welcome.

What Do I Bring?

Not much at all! Just bring a water bottle, a towel and wear comfortable workout clothes that you can move freely in.

We train barefoot on the mats, so you'll simply leave your shoes in the storage cubes near the entrance before class.

If you already have your own boxing gloves, feel free to bring them along. If not, don't worry—we have plenty of gloves and shin guards available for you to borrow while you're trying out our classes.

What Happens In My First Class?

If you're joining our 6:30pm beginner-friendly class, you'll be looked after from the moment you arrive.

Rather than being expected to jump straight into the class, you'll spend time with one of our experienced coaches or senior members in a separate area of the gym, where you'll learn the basics at your own pace. They'll teach you the fundamental punches, kicks and movements, answer any questions you have, and help you feel comfortable before joining in with the group.

There's no pressure to know anything before you arrive—we don't expect you to. Everyone starts somewhere, and we're here to make your first class an enjoyable and positive experience.

I've Never Trained Before, Is That Ok?

Absolutely! In fact, most of the people who join Fight Factory have never trained in Muay Thai or kickboxing before.

Our classes are designed to cater for all experience levels, and everyone starts as a beginner.

You don't need to be fit, coordinated or know anything about Muay Thai before you start. The whole point of coming to class is to learn, improve and build confidence over time.

What Do I Wear?

Just wear comfortable workout clothes that you can move freely in, such as a t-shirt or singlet with shorts or activewear.

There's no need to go out and buy any special Muay Thai gear for your first class. We train barefoot on the mats, and if you don't have your own gloves or shin guards yet, you're welcome to borrow ours while you're getting started.

Once you decide it's for you, we'll happily give you advice on what equipment you'll need.
